At Lagunas Roofing we like to work with homeowners to ensure you stay safe, and have a good looking roof. As we approach tornado and hail season we wish to inform about the damage hail can do to a roof. Hail will strike the shingles at random points, weakening and washing away the granules of the shingle. The granules protect the asphalt layer of the shingle against the sun and it’s UV rays. Once the granules have been washed away, weakened or damaged the asphalt that maintains the waterproof properties of the roof begins to deteriorate with sun exposure. Hail damage may not cause leaks now, but over time within 1-3 years water will begin to penetrate the shingle. If you live in an area that has had a hail storm, or think you may have existing hail damage give us a call. We offer free estimates with no obligation to you.
